The Church on Church Street

Synopsis with Spoilers

Adam was the IT specialist for a title company downtown. He was a bit of a loner and lived in an apartment in the suburbs where he commuted by train. On the way back and forth to work, he was fascinated by a ghetto his train passed through. Adam unexpectedly inherits some money, and decides to look for a house to live in. Discovering how expensive homes are, Adam gets the idea that it would be cheaper and more convenient to live in the ghetto. Although he is an atheist, he gets a great deal on an old church on church street. Upon moving in, he is shocked to discover that the church still has a congregation that holds a service every Sunday. Feeling like an outsider in his own residence, and not wanting to break up the congregation, Adam is convinced to allow the services to continue, and even to give sermons.

Adam befriends a young banker named Saphira who is attracted to Adam’s involvement with the church and his unconventional ideas about religion. As a bible savant, Saphira is passionate about religion, and enters into a torrid romance with Adam. Her contributions to the church propel the small congregation to new levels of popularity. And the couple explore new levels of love.

Just when things were looking great for the church and their relationship, a company conspires with the city to force Adam to sell the church to make way for a new commercial development. Adam is able to leverage his connections at his work to greatly increase the compensation he receives from the forced sale of the church. With the money from the settlement, Adam and Saphira are able to live happily ever after.

Book two of the series is titled “The Church on the Internet: Church Street Goes Global.” In this book the couple leverages their local success to go global. They discover a hidden secret that tests their faith and deepens their romantic passion.
